What is the difference between HTML and HTML5?

HTML is a primitive version, whereas HTML5 is a newer version. There is increased support for CSS and certain formatting styles, whereas some prmitive tags have been discontinued in the latter that were prevalent in the former. Also is used to differentiate a code as HTML5.
