The next stage was a technical interview conducted over video call. This interview was more in-depth and focused on my technical skills and knowledge relevant to process engineering.
Questions Covered:
Experience with Process Optimization: I was asked to describe a past project where I optimized a manufacturing process. I detailed a project from my previous role where I improved the efficiency of a chemical reaction process, resulting in a 15% increase in yield.
Problem-Solving Scenarios: The interviewers presented a hypothetical scenario involving a process bottleneck and asked how I would diagnose and address the issue. I explained my approach, emphasizing root cause analysis and the use of statistical process control tools.
Technical Skills Assessment: They inquired about my proficiency with industry-specific software, such as CAD and simulation tools, and how I applied these in previous roles.
Safety and Compliance: Safety is crucial in process engineering, so they asked about my experience in ensuring safety and compliance with regulations in past projects.
The interviewers were knowledgeable and approachable, making it a comfortable environment to discuss technical topics. They also shared insights into the challenges and projects their team was currently facing, which was enlightening.
