Firms that went through private equity. Post PE, how have you noticed comp/bonuses compared to pre-PE? At Crowe now so trying to figure out next move. Thanks!

How bad was the RSM layoff today?
I received an offer at a company but the offer is in a very niche area of tax and in an industry (let’s say real estate for example) that is outside of what I did at public accounting (let’s say tech). Health insurance is also not the greatest either… but I’m out of a job and with the market being tough, think in about taking it. how hard would it be to pivot back into tax in tech if I took this role?
I hate that the govt can reach in your acct and take your money for a owed tax bill. It feels so violating 🥲 can nothing (besides paying the bill) be done about this?!
For those that work in industry what AI tools are you using to help automate your data flow and compliance work? We are using the usual tax engine like OneSource and Vertex. Also using Alteryx to help with the data processing. The executive would like us to automate more and use more AI tools. I don't think there are "AI tools" out there that are there yet to actually be helpful but I can be wrong so just wondering what are you all using to make your compliance and tax accounting work easier.
Does anyone know of any manager or below that has by chance won their firm a client? I’m curious if that has ever happened and if there have been any benefits associated with that
If you’re a high performer, compensation model paying considerably more. Solid base and better bonuses. If highest rated category at Manager or higher, profit sharing through incentive units. So, overall, way better.
Maybe not a clean pre/post PE comparison, but I was a senior manager at a firm that got acquired by a PE backed firm. I got a nice bump in pay effective day 1 of the acquisition and promoted to partner the year after which obviously came with more pay. So far so good. PE likes high performers and tries to reward and incentivize them to stay.
