I had a prospect tell me yesterday that our competitor's rep texts him on weekends and evenings to stay top of mind. Are we really expected to do this now or is this crossing a line?

How much does the product you’re selling shape your identity as a rep, and does it ever make it harder to make a move?
My company just had massive layoffs. I survived, but my manager was fired. Now the surviving reps and I report directly to the area VP. I genuinely like my job, and the career growth was great before this, but I feel like a sitting duck. Is it a bad sign when middle management gets wiped out? Should I jump ship now, or try to leverage this direct line to the VP?
How do you handle prospects who try to price-match your services? I had a potential client tell me flat out that they can get the same thing cheaper from one of our competitors. If that happens, do you actively defend your rates and explain the price difference, or do you accept it as a sign they aren’t the right fit and politely walk away?
