I absolutely HATED the office! And I mean EVERYTHING about it, including the small talk and the commute! I am also very introverted and I suffer from Misophonia so the smallest things send me into fight or flight mode. I need to be home where I can control my work environment, the temperature AND the overhead lights! 😃
I have been fully remote since 2015 (with an 8 month in-office stint when I started a new job in 2019). COVID was a blessing because management realized we COULD get all work done without being FTF. It helps if you can get together in person quarterly or one day a month depending how far you are from the office. My team also did periodic 'virtual lunches' where we played trivia for prizes. I miss it, as I am currently unemployed. :-(
It’s been a year so far :)
Been fully remote since 2017. I actually do miss the office, lol not the commute tho (90 min + each way). I did notice that I was sick less ( we had an office martyr who ALWAYS came to work sick) but I miss the water cooler chat.
I did notice I’m sick less as well ! As for the office Marty I totally get it. I took PTO because I was sick and management used it against me because I had taken too much time off. I left after.
I've been remote 5 yrs now and sometimes I do miss the office and feel like I'm always home… I'm a social person with a social battery that never keeps a charge.
