I am a stock/trading noob. I started investing in the market about 2 months ago and have tried to diversify my portfolio. I want to invest around $5k more but I’m so confused because there is barely any dip in the market to buy. I missed the Salesforce train because I was scared of investing at a high price. What are some suggestions based on my current stocks? How do I learn to invest better? What are some steps/research that you do before you invest in a stock?

My investing process and my advice for other noobs - It has been slow but successful. This assumes you have job security: 1. Buy small amounts of VOO or similar ETFs at fixed intervals. Double dip during recessions 2. Buy individual stocks of very successful, sector leaders like Apple, Google etc whenever there is big market crash event like Covid, recessions, etc. as long as the core business model of the firm is still valid after the event is over

Are their better ways of investing, absolutely. This is the one that works for me and doesn’t need me to be an “active” investor or researcher

Trying to time the market is not a sound investment strategy. If you are long term, buy and hold companies you believe will be profitable over your investment horizon. How to choose involves more in depth research, but that’s it in a nutshell imo
