Is it even possible to get HSW with a low GPA (3.3-3.5 range) if you’re an ORM guy? Even if you went to top 20 undergrad, top GMAT (780-800), good work experience (top consulting firms+FAANG)?

Yes of course. Do you think schools just look at your GPA and say, “oh well we have enough white and asian men, we’ll toss the rest of the apps below 3.5 out.” It’s all about story, if you have a great reason and story, yes it’s possible for you to get in.

Thanks for the advice! Tbh I’m trying to figure out my end game, but going for MBA felt like a good stepping stone for building my resume while keeping my options open. I figured since you only get 1 shot at an MBA that there’s no reason to settle for a less than top school unless you can’t get it, and from what I’ve seen there’s major dropoffs between HSW and the rest of M7 and then an even bigger dropoff between M7 and everything else.

While I can't speak to the overall quotas or numbers behind the scenes, I'd be happy to provide my stats for you to make your own judgment. I'm Asian with a 760 GMAT, 3.28 GPA from a top-10 UG (engineering), 3 years of experience at Deloitte only. Got into Wharton, waitlisted at Stanford, rejected at Harvard. So, I did not have a GMAT in your range, a low GPA, low years of experience with no "superstar" companies (FAANG, MBB, etc.), and am ORM.
