How long from your application do you wait before you give up on getting an interview? With all the automated everything these days, why the heck are so many companies ghosting applicants??
I’ve started judging companies by how they reject candidates. Some places make you feel respected even with a no. I received the nicest rejection email today that let me down easy and still made me feel hopeful about my next interview. Others just ghost like a situationship. Can’t help but wonder how they think they’ll attract great talent they treated that way in the past?
I was laid off a month ago and I have startef studying for cisco certifications along with applying. But When I see job descriptions and number of people applied for a job it scares me. AI has made the process complecated I believe.... I have ISP tier3 experience but today's job market wants all together. Sec,cloud, routing,switching, wireless, automation, loadbalance, vpn, design, implement, trouble shoot.......
As a former recruiter, I ALWAYS spoke about comp with candidates right away, as it can be one of the fastest deal breakers. How are you addressing comp if it isn't brought up? I don't want to seem like that's the only thing, but it is an important thing. I'm not sure how to handle it. Thoughts?
Just read an article from Fortune about people feeling too burnt out to apply for jobs. Is that you? I get it. This paragraph really summed it up for me: "Compounding the immobility: job seekers are being ghosted at a three-year high, with more than half of applicants reporting no response from employers in the past year. Hiring experts connect the trend directly to AI-inflated application volumes overwhelming recruiters — the same feedback loop burning candidates out. [...]"

I summarize my resume, highlighting important details and expanding on anything particularly relevant to the position. I basically tell a story about the things I accomplished in my career and why I am their best candidate.
I talk about my priorities in my work, what work means to me (not as it relates to $), and why those things seem to be a good fit for their organization.
Am tall , sexy , ambitious, go getter , .. " did you read my resume it details alot about me in summary. Lol 🤣
They have already read your resume/ know who you are professionally. Yourself should be more than your job. Your hobbies interests goals?
Don't assume they've read my resume. Most people only give it a quick scan. I think it is worth it to walk through some of the high points of your resume. I'd only mention hobbies if they present you as someone interesting or particularly driven. E.g. "I just hiked my 3rd 14,000ft peak" helps you sound dedicated. But, "I make costumes for my dog" just sounds weird.
I think this question is mostly looking for more personal information. I usually mention hobbies and my background growing up in a Latino household. It shows the interviewer I'm not a robot trying to sell my resume, but a human being trying to connect, has worked so far.
