My gf and I have been dating for about a year now. She’s a nepo baby and I’m self made (not anywhere close to where she is but I live comfortably). I have a startup that’s eating up my money and rightfully so since it’s in the beginning stages. Gf is telling me she’s not happy that im not spending money on her or giving her the time she wants. I’m in the final stages with an incredible new firm, but they are demanding a reference from my current manager before making an official offer. If I ask my boss for a reference and the new gig falls through, it’s not gonna end well. How do you handle this without blowing up your current job situation?
