Consultant

Been finding it really difficult to transition from product-adjacent roles at consultancies to doing product in-house at a firm - has anyone gone through a similar transition and/or have any advice (uk - london roles)

I went opposite way and it was relatively easy for me. What exactly are you struggling with? Pace, process or people?

I’ve managed to do this back in 2018, it was super painful. Had to go through about 100 processes but was determined to make it happen. Moved back to Consulting 4 years later for a bit of polish, stability (boom years then) and more money. Now looking outwards again 7 years after I’ve first done it and it’s looking worse than 2018. Not even getting into any processes and I DO have hard product experience not just product-adjacent in Consulting. Tough market, suggest looking at Delivery/Associate Product/Product Owner roles in legacy corporate with less mature product orgs… Many others on this trail so employers get to pick from a rich pool.

I’ve found the same. I’m all ears to hear what others suggest
