Thoughts on Dentons?

When do we expect market firms to match the Milbank raises? I assume mine will but haven’t heard anything yet. And I’m losing one omakase meal per pay period…
Do folks pick up calls from unknown numbers on their work line? I typically ignore because it’s always spam, but today I missed a call that turned out to be from a partner’s cell and they’re upset that I didn’t pick up. If they had messaged me on Teams first or called from their work line it wouldn’t have been an issue. Is it expected to take every call on your work line or is the partner being unreasonable?
I have a $1.2M net worth as a 3rd year NYC mid level (including home equity) yet I still feel broke and empty. Majority of paycheck simply goes into retirement accounts, mortgage or index funds. Not interested in dating/relationships and most days I just eat a six piece chicken McNuggets on the way home from work for dinner and rice and beans at home on weekends. No traveling, no vacations, not close with family (not interested in any of that). Anyone else similar? I can’t be the only one
Anyone find it weird how big of a chip NOT coming from privilege is to some lawyers? Seems like these people think any conversation about debt and privilege is an affront to their existence as if we were even talking about them or their qualifications. Like b, what do you want from me? Life isn't fair, I didn't determine your life. Why you bitter at me for, if this job ain't making you happy then just leave, no need to be insecure about it and say it's a money thing or whatever
I’m a junior associate and a very well-regarded mid level has taken me under her wing. She’s really nice and is a great mentor, but also bills near 3k hours every year and expects everyone is always online and working past 12 am as a default. How do I push back on this situation without harming the mentorship relationship?
Not particularly distinguished. Quality of attorneys and work varies significantly across offices. Black box compensation and under-market bonuses. Would pick another firm if given the option.
That’s a shame. I know some Dentons attorneys who are really good but have heard the opposite about others.

Really depends on the practice group and office. Which are you thinking of? Generally great people to work with.
Worked there for a while. The level of skill varies among practice groups. Benefits are similar to other firms I’ve seen. Comp is at cravath for first few years, although 10k less in ‘not major’ markets and then just inches up. 2000 billable requirement and maybe 10k-20k max bonus if hit it (could go higher but I don’t know anyone who did).
Yup. One of the reasons I left.
McFirmiest of the McFirms.
What if I said it’s their insurance dispute team - first party insurance claims?
They are always busy. Smart people in the group. High level work. Feel free to dm.
Then I wouldn’t know. Also really depends on the office. If it’s a smaller market office, likely good people. If not… well, sol - welcome to big law in big city.
McDonalds? Nah.
