Does anyone else have trouble building rapport with white clients? I’m not socially awkward by any means, but noticed that clients are more receptive and responsive to my white colleagues. I’m usually the only woman as well.

Same thing to me and it gets noticeably better when I have the manager title. However there’s still quite a bit of ppl like that, not just clients, coworkers as well
I don’t think of it more so as race, as just a skill set I don’t have, so have to keep trying! And honestly my attitude to this now is that I have to practice harder to build rapport because I didn’t grow up in an environment where I could learn this skill from my parents nor have the opportunity to do it from school (90% Asian school). So now I have to catch up. Try different tactics, see what works for other people and what might work for you! I’m sure there’s something you can find to connect with clients. It’s all about practice and building confidence IMO.
