Stockers (or stock clerks) are responsible for ensuring that shelves, bins, displays, storage, and aisles are properly stocked to make sure customers can find and purchase merchandise they are looking for. Stockers often work in a retail or warehouse environments receiving, unloading, and unpacking cartons, crates, and boxes of bulk or packaged goods, and checking labels and information before moving it to where it needs to be.
Often a high school degree is required to become a stocker. The daily duties are physically demanding, requiring lifting heavy loads and moving around the workfloor most of the shift. The work hours of a stocker can often be outside of regular work hours, sometimes at night and during the weekends.
