I worked at Patagonia part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great company culture. Environmentally and ethically conscientious. Socially responsible. Solid leadership. Incredible perks. Quality benefits for full-time employees. Core company values; it is a values-driven organization with special emphasis on sustainability and building excellent products.

      Cons

Below market-value salaries. Limited mobility within company. Bureaucratic organizational structure—can be slow to embrace change.

      Advice to Management

Remain faithful to core values, embrace change and innovation, utilize bio-mimicry to replace the DWR finish, adjust emplyee salaries with rising inflation and increasing cost of living (especially in Ventura), and provide employees the space to offer value-adding solutions and the mobility to succeed/fail in different departments of the organization.

      I worked at Patagonia part-time

      Pros

Friendly environment; working with people keep on outdoors; delivering throughout product knowledge to the customers, and building loyalty with them by delivering excellent customer service; environmentally friendly brand!

      Cons

As the shop is very small, there is only 1 person working full time, except for the manager & assistant manager, so that all other people work just part-time.

      I worked at Patagonia full-time

      Pros

Worked with amazing people that seemed to hold very similar beliefs about environmentalism and getting outside. Fun atmosphere and nobody took themselves too seriously, even including store managers and supervisors.

      Cons

Holiday retail will never be fun at any store, though the "customer is always right" mentality does mean you really have to be on your toes during holiday seasons.

I have been working at Patagonia full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

Patagonia offers great benefits. Free healthcare, cheap vision and dental and a very generous 401K match. We get 2 paid field days every year and fair amount of vacation time every paycheck.

        Cons

Growing pains and poor management. Some departments need better organization and leaders to help propel the company and support its employees. The company is also living in the past and thinks everyone needs to have a desk in an office instead of working remotely.

        Advice to Management

Trust your employees and recognize when people are giving their all. Stop playing favorites. Look into more remote jobs. Not all jobs need to be in Ventura.
