I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The benefits are decent. They offered an HSA account with company contributions (not sure if they still do this), health care and dental at a decent monthly cost, vacation, sick time, and PTO.

    Cons

The managers are high strung and a bit too interested in your personal life, almost seemingly desperate to make friends with you. If you don't want to join your team members or whoever works their for lunch, every working shift, they look at you funny. No, joke the culture is overwhelmingly in your personal business. Not recommended for the reserved type or the "I need a break from you all" type. There's also a... company ball (no joke) that they request all of their staff to attend. It's like a company prom, because yes you need to wear a gown or suit. WTF. And if you don't attend, then they look at you funny. The series 7 training is a joke. The trainers that we had were aweful. One used weird metaphors constantly to teach, and when he was told that his metaphors were confusing he would smile and use additional metaphors to explain the other ones. WTF. The other trainer was on some sort of stimulant, and would constantly speed walk from one side of the room to the other waving his arms around like a monkey swinging on a branch, but missing the branch.

    Advice to Management

Understand that your employees have a personal life that they probably don't want work to be a part of. Taking over the lunch hour is not cool, it's frustrating. Your employees need a break during their work day and don't want to go to a work meeting during their break. Have the meetings during down time, and only if absolutely necessary. Employees don't need to listen to managers brag about how great they think... Fidelity is.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, happy people, good work life balance, great pay, fantastic job training,

    Cons

Lack of leadership in management, no career progression, very little training after you are “on the job” after finishing their training program. Not many internal job opportunities. Most managers are just reps with more experience so not a lot of true management experience.

    Advice to Management

Provide more career prospects, increase the amount of training available for employees, need stronger leadership.
