Pros

The Choice Program gives individuals the opportunity to get involved in a variety of social justice issues. People who work and serve here also get a chance to collaborate with various other agencies involved in working with disadvantaged populations. These includes the Department of Juvenile Services, Department of Social Services, school districts and various community based organizations. The Choice Program gives you the opportunity to see the best in young people. You will experience both small and large successes while working with youth and families. The networking opportunities will allow you multiple opportunities to build your personal brand.

Cons

The Choice Program will challenge you to become a better person than when you arrived. The demands of the job will test your time management and organizational skills. The flexibility and ability to create your own experience is difficult for some, particularly those who prefer to a more structured work setting.

Pros

Very proactive vision; leading non-profit in juvenile justice reform. You learn a lot. Every day is different. Lots of interaction in the community with youth, families and the school and court system.

Cons

Very fast-paced. Attached to UMBC so lots of bureaucratic tape when it comes to making change.
