Pros
- Worked on a ton of projects, and got a ton of experience as a result. - Sound Designer colleagues were incredible to work with and very supportive
Cons
- Employees were comically under-appreciated. Once worked 24 hrs straight to hit a deadline, and in the morning when management returned to the office, I was asked, "What took you so long?" - Near-zero chance for company advancement. Was once told by the CEO, "This isn't a job you advance in. I'm surprised people stay." - Management and senior staff routinely lied to employees - An absolute factory of a studio: Pump it out and move on. In one instance I'd noticed an audio issue in a game we'd done sound for, and upon alerting the manager was told, "Don't worry about it - they already paid." - Zero benefits - No business card, no business trips, no industry involvement of any kind - Employees were distrusted, kept "behind the curtain" and actively barred from communication with clients/developers - Had to bring in my own gear to use in the studio: Laptop, monitors, midi controllers, etc. Getting new gear was rare at best - Could literally go on for hours about this.
