Pros

I enjoyed working here for the time that I had, although I saw red flags it was a good immersive culture. It helped me realize my passion for event planning.

Cons

One day I was fired on the spot by Jodi, without an initial conversation of feedback or ways to improve. I was shocked as I had no idea that there might've been anything even going wrong. Within 30s it was taken back after she found out that nobody had communicated with me clearly about what was going on. Since then, I had been walking on eggshells because I felt that any little mistake that was made would cost me my job. Not to mention that Jodi would make back handed comments about me in front of my team. Instead of fostering a positive outlook and teaching me, Jodi went as far as to say that I am not cut out for the industry. The energy in the office is very cliquey and secretive, you definitely need to be a specific stuck up personality type in order to work at Paramount Events. Many people have been "let go" under false pretense. As previous reviews mention, I can confirm that the hours are long and sometimes I found myself just sitting there although all of my work was done because I didn't want to be the first to leave. Jodi offered me this job, used me for 2 months of a busy season and disposed of me just as easily when things slowed down. That is not how you handle a business or treat a human.

Sasha, we appreciate you sharing the perspective of your experience. We have acknowledged and reflected on this review and would like to use this opportunity to provide more context to the situation and the reality of our company and industry. The level that we are at in our industry requires the ability to move and adjust quickly. Like any position at any company, there are times when new people are brought into our organization and can jump into the flow without breaking stride and there are times when that doesn’t happen smoothly or at all. When someone isn’t working out, we look deeper at the situation to see if this person possesses the fundamental traits, attitude, and experience level that our organization requires to succeed in a specific position. These are considerations we are also evaluating during the interview process for determining the initial hire. We know that we aren’t perfect so if someone fights for a job or tries to convince us otherwise, we will give them a chance to redeem themselves and prove us wrong. Part of this process is putting together a strategy or plan to use as a roadmap for accountability and success. If milestones aren’t met, then the outcome is obvious. In that case, it is not a personal decision, but a simple fact that someone isn’t a right fit. This can be performance-based, how engaged they are in their role, or their ability to stay awake throughout each workday without a documented medical condition to excuse such actions (actually falling asleep on the job). Sometimes someone thinks they are trying hard or changing, but not actually doing so. Most of this account is a completely subjective interpretation of the reality of the situation and contains false statements, which could explain why inaccurate conclusions were drawn. It also seems to be missing the piece of inward reflection where one might take accountability for their performance. With that being said, it is clear the decision we made was the best one for both parties. Despite your experience here and how you chose to deal with it, we hope the best for your next endeavors.
