Great co-workers overshadowed by terrible management and low pay - Senior Account Manager OneMain Financial Employee Review

Pros

Your peers. I have a great group of co-workers though multiple have left because of HORRIBLE direct management in the AM department.

Cons

Low hourly pay. Tricky incentives. Shark like environment. Terrible and I mean TERRIBLE managers. Favoritism runs rampant at this place and goes unchecked. Lazy, incompetent department manager makes up his own rules (you MUST use your break time to go the bathroom) which goes endorsed by his superiors and HR. Reward people who live at that place and work insane OT hours because of the low pay, but crap on people working the normal amount of hours because you’re based on the “average”. Truly one of the worst management staffs I have ever seen coupled with lackadaisical training and one of the dumbest rules I’ve ever heard of…you must be at One Main for ONE ENTIRE YEAR before you can transfer out of the department or move up. Trust me when I say run as far away as you can from this place.

Pros

Established company with strong market presence Opportunity to work on large initiatives Exposure to cross-functional teams

Cons

Lack of psychological safety: I have never experienced this level of open disrespect in a workplace. There are patterns of behavior that leave employees feeling dismissed or invalidated, and at times interactions feel gaslighting in nature. Ineffective response to concerns: Reporting issues through formal channels does not consistently lead to meaningful action, which erodes trust in leadership and HR processes. Gender-related concerns: There are ongoing challenges with how women are treated and supported. Disrespectful behavior is at times tolerated, particularly when there are disagreements, and accountability is inconsistent. Dismissive leadership dynamics: Communication from leadership can come across as condescending, discouraging open dialogue and limiting innovation. Inequitable team dynamics: Certain individuals or groups are given more influence, while others are blocked from contributing meaningfully. Over-reliance on external voices: Contractors and external partners are often given disproportionate influence over decisions, sometimes at the expense of internal teams. Lack of recognition and inclusion: Many teams are not consistently included in key conversations or leadership forums, reinforcing a sense of being undervalued.
