Pros

Good discount at Gap and Banana Republic (50 percent). Equal level employees are usually fun to work with. Usually located in a mall so you can get some decent food on break.

Cons

Managers do not care about their PART-TIME employees schedules outside of work. Management will schedule you to work during college classes, even though you adjusted your availability. Most of the time your availability adjustment will be denied by management because it doesn't match with their schedules. Thought you did a great job cleaning up your area? Think again. Management will find any excuse necessary to belittle your efforts and make you feel like you are single-handedly destroying the store. A huge downside of working at Old Navy is the constant pressure of signing people up for ONC's (Credit Cards). Most customers who shop at Old Navy come in two to three times a week and already have a card. Unless it is a holiday you will be hard-pressed to find somone willing to save 10 percent on their purchase (usually around 10 dollars) by signing up for an Old Navy card with a 28% interest rate. Another awesome thing Old Navy does is over/under schedule you. When you have responsibilities outside of work it seems like management enjoys giving you as many hours as possible, and when the summer rolls around hours are scarce to non-existent. The fun just keeps coming; unless you have worked for the company for more than 5 years don't expect to get any preferrential treatment. Management loves to pick favorites and guess what happens when you don't get picked; you become alienated. Managers will put you at the absolute last register, with no one near you and go-backs upon go-backs to process. There is so much more that I can tell you but It really is not even worth it...My advice: When they call you for an interview don't even respond, being broke is honestly more enjoyable than being treated like garbage on an everyday basis.

Pros

It was an easy job and it was fun.

Cons

Nothing was wrong but having to learn the register was a bit hard for me. But that's me.

Pros

You might meet some lifelong friends! Long tenure if you are willing to give up everything to try to be a successful employee Good EAP program for short term intensive therapy…

Cons

Public criticism, condescending communication, inconsistent accountability, and fear-based management styles became increasingly common. Feedback often felt reactive rather than constructive, and many employees did not feel psychologically safe speaking openly about concerns. There was also a significant lack of consistency between leaders and stores. Expectations changed constantly, communication was often unclear, and favoritism sometimes impacted accountability and decision-making. Long-term employees who consistently stepped up during difficult periods often felt taken for granted rather than appreciated. Reporting to HR will get you no where. You will be gaslit if you choose to speak up.
