Pros

Working almost anywhere else will feel like a vacation There's a great job market out there The red flags are easy to identify

Cons

Within the first month of joining there were 3 people that left, including the head of HR after two weeks, a massive red flag. Then their head of marketing and shortly afterwards sales. Many people disappeared with strange ambiguous reasons or no notice at all and people just didn't see them on Slack. Afterwards started the terminations and more quitting. The 2nd head of marketing along with an SEO developer, then followed by their head of operations in Australia. Shortly afterwards their only PM left, their only senior developer and the list goes on. In 6 months over 8 people left or were fired by two meglomaniacs who call themselves CEO / President. There's only 20 people in the company, their turnover rate is absolutely insane. Their expansion into the USA was laughable and showed a pure lack of understanding of business practices in general. They expected their revenue to be in the hundreds of thousands in their first month, and multiple millions in their first year. This is with a new brand, few products in limited regions, a new PM carrying 7-10 projects, a new head of marketing running in many directions, a single developer and 1/3 their content team in an ongoing war. They not only didn't make hundreds of thousands but instead lost money, which is to be expected with a new product line. They then started terminating people because their ego was so large, they couldn't admit they were wrong. I've never heard of anyone ever being paid a bonus. They usually fix a large 20% bonus with unrealistic expectations and if you miss by any percentage, even if it's their fault, you get nothing. I've never heard of a single person receiving a single penny from their bonus, ever. Roles here a fluid, they expect you to be entrepreneurs like themselves. They'll pile one role after another on-top of you till you break and can't fulfill your day to day responsibilities. Your next move is to find a new job or get fired.

Moncel Response
3y
Those who strive to excel and have a desire to succeed don't point fingers. They recognize their weaknesses and diligently work on them -- we can say the same for all key players at Moncel. Our customer base has grown by 107% this year and headcount by 169%. This was achieved because we set ambitious goals and purposefully organize efforts to pursue them despite setbacks or resistance. That is our culture and we attract equally ambitious individuals who thrive in that environment and want to be a part of the journey. We wish you the best of luck and success with an organization that is better suited for you.

Pros

Seemed like a great company with great potential.

Cons

No culture except work and bow down to company leaders (who are husband and wife). Zero creative freedom. No job can be done unless you write a multiple page document as to why you feel the job should be done (even if you are highly qualified)

Pros

PLEASE NOTE: This is the second time I am posting this review as Moncel created this new page to fill it with positive reviews, and bury the numerous extremely accurate and negative reviews on their original page. Though this is a perfect example of how they operate their business and their integrity, I do not believe it is fair to lead potential employees into roles without all information. If you search “Moncel” you will see there are two. - hardworking staff - decent salaries - fast-paced and constant internal change and direction - met good friends who have worked there and left

Cons

- extremely limited autonomy - very poor work-life balance - extremely high turnover - negative atmosphere can be a reality when the married owners are at odds - high-level of micro-management and little accountability from ownership - poor comp/bonus structure design that could lead to unpaid bonuses - constant desire from CEO to have employees jump through hoops - aggressive communication from top - no attention to Diversity, Equity or Inclusion - unrealistic targets - poor off-boarding; many people disappeared with no explanation from leadership - 'owners are never wrong' culture If you are seeking a business where you are valued and don't have to deal with an atmosphere of grandeur from the top or be a 'yes man', I would not recommend this business. I saw some reviews that reference 'run for the hills' and agree with the points made. I noticed a company response on one and it made me think: if a company is willing to post a public response to a review chastising the employee and showboating alleged "results", I see this as some sort of red flag.
