Pros
Great work environment; people have fun together. Lots of transparency from management. Competence and attitude are rewarded with growth opportunities, most managers were promoted from within. We offer amazing customer service and customers mostly love us. Most jobs are paid hourly with optional overtime, work-life balance is excellent. Strong business that is pretty resistant to recessions.
Cons
IT infrastructure is shaky. In the past, emphasis on doing things "quick and dirty" resulted in lots of technical debt. This can make for some stressful moments. That situation is improving but slowly. Salaries are very good for rural St. Lawrence Co. but low compared to the rest of the US so it is hard to attract top talent. Not a very diverse workforce (though that mostly reflects our county). It is such an unusual company in some ways that working here may not prepare you well for other jobs elsewhere, so you might start to feel stuck.
