Pros
The product really is better built than many competitors and customers are generally happy. It’s a good opportunity for newbies to get their feet wet and do things they’ve never done before/gain experience quickly.
Cons
Most of the team is very inexperienced so projects are badly scoped and often heading in multiple directions. Middle/senior managers brought in often leave quickly because the pay is too low for them to put up with the chaos and decisions are not made based on data or experience, but instead based on what management feels like doing. The CEO keeps a trusted circle of advisors close by, but the rotation of people in and out of that circle is constant. Mental health is generally suffering because of the very bad work life balance and is just written off as a victim of startup life. There are plenty of startups out there that have much healthier cultures.
