Pros

The People. Almost everyone I worked with was lovely and incredibly generous with their time with training and mentoring etc. Perks. Free lunch is always great and lots of goodies coming through the office as well as organised events such as Mario Kart tournaments and company trips away. Opportunity. If you are willing to overlook some of the glaring flaws in the company you can progress startlingly quickly and there are plenty of opportunities for development.

Cons

Being paid for responsibility. People were told that they were given more opportunity than their salary cap to benefit their development. Frankly, this is unacceptable - if someone is deemed qualified for a level of responsibility they should be paid in line with that. The whole company just becomes a glorified training scheme. Value of Tech. The tech department is marketed as a huge USP to prospective clients but it simply isn't recognised internally and has been sorely underfunded for years. Grads Training Grads. What is the benefit of a graduate scheme where the graduates are trained by graduates a few months ahead of them in their development, who in turn are trained by graduates a few months ahead of them? Developers pick up bad habits and important parts of development are completely overlooked because there isn't the knowledge internally. Pay. Pay is largely under the market average - whilst the senior leadership team claimed that we were paid in-line with the market, it was the lowest paid graduate job that I applied for and I along with many others left the company for a greater salary.
