      Poor Product Culture

19 Mar 2023 - Product Owner in Bangalore
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work life balance can be managed well

      Cons

      1) Company adopted product culture recently. Existing employees who have never been product managers were made product managers. Lack of Product culture. 2) Extremely poor product environment. You'll mostly work under an engineering manager and will have to do their bidding instead of concentrating on product work 3) Bangalore and US team have different leaderships. You might be working on the same project/product but there is a lack of communication between the two. Your counterpart in the same role in US will have different job responsibilities while you will mostly be doing menial operations/follow up work. 4) You will have almost no exposure to UX, sales, market research etc 5) Pay is not upto mark and talent retention is abysmal.

      It's alright

28 Mar 2023 - Senior Change Implementation Analyst in Kansas City, MO

      Pros

In the support area of Cerner there is decent job security and okay money for the work. Generally most roles are remote even in Kansas City

      Cons

With the mergers with Oracle there are a lot of changes you only learn about last minute, including this years annual raise being slashed. Layoffs tend to be a looming threat but again doesn't usually effect support unless you're midlevel manager

      Employee friendly, good work environment

30 Mar 2023 - Senior Software Engineer (L5) in Bangalore

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Stress free work, well planned using agile safe, Engineers don't get to interact directly with clients, there's a separate team for that. Lots of other extracurricular activities at work apart from regular work.

      Cons

Technology used is a slightly outdated, and some of it is proprietary with low value outside of Cerner

      Not great!

22 Mar 2023 - Technical Writer in Arlington, VA

      Pros

The people I worked with were, really and truly, fantastic. They deeply cared about the VA EHRM mission and wanted the best for America's veterans.

      Cons

Cerner came in with an offer far and away below market rate for a tech editor in the DC area, the organization itself was poorly managed and terribly organized, the office was simultaneously so crowded I did not have a desk and yet so slow I frequently had nothing to do, and did not offer any additional career mobility. I'm glad I got out fast.

Poor technical and managerial expertise in health outcomes/real world evidence

      Pros

Nothing great as they are in great confusion with the recent acquisition.

      Cons

The current Health outcome and biostatistics team has no prior expertise in experimental/quasi-experimental research. They were doing ONLY cross-sectional health surveys at Kantar. Experimental research needs stronger out-of-box approach and flexibility.

      Overall ok

      Pros

I enjoy the work I do Always something new to learn Work environment forces you to be agile and learn quickly Easy to keep busy with the amount of help people or teams need Benefits are good now that Oracle took over.

      Cons

Typically people leave within 1-3 years in this position. Due to this, solution knowledge suffers. Most items fall on the person who has been there the longest since none of the newer staff have any idea what is going on. With this in mind, I believe tenured employees are underpaid for the amount of value they add. It's not uncommon for 1 or 2 people to be the only people that know how something is intended to work, or how to fix specific issues if they get complex enough. Documentation is generally poor. It's a sink or swim environment

      Pros

Good company to work for, really the best work culture, good benefits, flexibility

      Cons

Cerner appraisals were good, since the acquisition happened by oracle we are not sure what is coming. For now there have been news of layoffs etc. So as of now in 2023 situation seems dicey. But the company as Cerner was really the best.
