I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

-Some welcome benefits, especially for parents, or families who want to be parents. -Work-life balance is good. - Abilility to purchase blizzard gear with discounts(although that has decreased a lot over the years) -The campus -The Blizzard lore and history

    Cons

    - Overall compensation is low for the cost of living. - No stock options or other kind of benefits that vest and keep people vested in the company. -Low performance of the company during the last years brought the bonuses to an all-time low. - Very poor career advancement(amazing individuals leave because they are not treated right and not promoted over the course of years, sometimes even a decade).

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Probably the best place to work in the games industry in terms of compensation, job security, and work life balance. Good pay and benefits, unless you are in a support role. Fun culture. Talented and passionate workers, mostly gaming geeks.

    Cons

The culture that Blizzard is famous for is slowly dying. "Every voice matters" no longer means company-wide input on games and testing, instead all games are developed in secret from anyone outside the development teams. "Commit to quality" appears to be going out the door, while financial considerations and development speed have become driving factors. Leadership in my department is nepotistic, so you're better off sucking up to the right person than being a high performer.

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

awesome co-workers, relaxed culture, job security, good work/life balance, if you enjoy Blizzard games, you get those perks.

    Cons

alcohol is too big in this culture, extreme bro-culture, sexism is alive and well here, not enough women in higher level positions, growth is very slow and difficult, pay is below industry standards

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You'll learn how to multi-task, STAR (situation, task, action, result) solve for interviewing, data-entry, and basic level technical support Oh and you work with gamers on a day-to-day basis. There's also a team for dodgeball and a women's resource group.

    Cons

Pay is crap for the area. Raises are pitiful (5-25c/yr). Additionally, the politicking game is strong in this company; you can't trust your co-workers to have your back as they may use that to sabotage potential opportunities for other departments or give you poor advice if it means they get ahead. Your hours are going to be awful. Day-to-day Scheduling is a 'this is fine' meme with you swapping from email to IM to phone support on a dime and random times where breaks are unacceptable. Work life balance is non-existent; show up for your shift or don't show up at all. A draconian attendance policy ensures that once you have an issue you're stuck with it going forward.

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Warm and inviting culture that celebrates your inner geek-- whether that is gaming, role-playing, movies, comics, you name it. Blizzard offers many avenues to level up your skills at Blizzard U. They frequently bring in guest lecturers and have classes in art, programming, and also classes in leadership and management. Fellow colleagues are the best in the world at their craft. I believe that everyone at Blizzard is really trying to make the best game possible for our players. On development teams, there is a good work-life balance and it's rare in the past few years that there is a long run of overtime work.

    Cons

Rent in Irvine can be high and options for a social scene can be limited compared to Los Angeles. Just something to consider.

I worked at Blizzard Entertainment full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Selective hiring means most people are rock stars Good work/life balance Collaborative environment Caring management

    Cons

Now that Morhaime is no longer there to protect valued employees, Activision is free to make company decisions (read layoffs) that are strictly money oriented. No new game released since Overwatch, and none in the near future. Some teams have good culture some not, depends on the manager. Mantra is now cut costs where it once was make epic games.
