I applied to multiple positions within Icims because I have a mixed background of both IT and Digital Marketing over a 20 year period. One of their recruiters called me and told me that my resume didn't fit the rolls I was applying for and she removed my application and decided I would fit another roll instead, all without my consent. After arguing with her how much I disagree with this judgement it seemed the only way to get an interview or be considered would be to play by their rules. So, she processed my application for a PHP programming roll when I obviously did not have any hard-core programming skills over a number of years (Like I said, I have a very mixed background). She sent me a "Level 1" programming test which was obviously way over my head and more geared for the career-programmer. I didn't bother trying to attempt the test and waste my time. Instead I typed an email to her about my diverse background and how I wanted to be considered for the original rolls I applied for. How the skills on my resume can be ignore is beyond me, and how a recruiter can attempt to force me into a position I wasnt qualified for, even after a 20 minute semi-argument over the phone, is beyond me! It seemed this in-house recruiter was trying to push her own agenda or maybe her commission was higher for this specific position, but Icims looks like a great place to work and I feel I missed my opportunity because this recruiter was completely unprofessional and their entire hiring process is so poor.
