I answered that they give the customer more spending power and/or the company more money through interest. My interviewer said the first part was right, but Kohl's really doesn't make extra money from credit cards (not too sure about that... if not individual stores, the corporation definitely benefits from interest and late payments, plus the potential for bigger purchases since customers can buy on credit). Before he told me what the best answer was, he asked where I thought most Kohl's ads go. I said online, but he told me it was actually the newspaper. He said that since most department store ads go in newspapers but people don't really read newspapers anymore, they needed a new way to market. Credit cards let them send out extra ads and tailor what kind of coupons get sent out, since the company can look up exactly what products the customer buys. Less

Try to relate your answer to the Kohl's core values and its current advertising slogans. You can see what these are by going on their website, then to the careers page, and checking out all the links there. Also, word your answer in a good but unique way that an interviewer wouldn't hear very often. Avoid using a cliche answer. Less

Why do you want to work at Sephora? I'm very interested in Sephora's education and training process. I love learning new skills and information especially if it's something I'm passionate about. I feel like the cashier/beauty advisor position is great opportunity for me to interact with customers. I'm not a kind of person who likes to sit behind a desk answering phones. I like to be where the people are. But the most important reason why I want to work here is because the way I was treated as a customer. I always have an amazing experience at Sephora. Less
