First call was a phone screen with a technical recruiter. Then got to the technical phone screen, which had a lot of Java & Android trivia and an algorithm problem. For the trivia questions, they asked about Android lifecycle, Java access modifiers, and broadcast receivers.

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Yahoo (Champaign, IL (US)) in February 2019.

    Interview

At a college career fair. Talked face to face with the recruiter. Pretty much depended on how strong your resume was. Recruiters were very chill and easy to talk to. They asked you a technical question on the spot

    Interview

I was selected for on-campus interview from my university's career fair. I had a conversation with someone on the mobile team. We also had a fun dinner party right before technical interviews. I was asked 5 Leetcode medium-hard questions. Yet to receive results. Overall, a very good experience.

    IOS Developer Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at Yahoo (Sunnyvale, CA (US)) in January 2019.

    Interview

After a video call/screen share tech screen, I had an onsite at their campus in Sunnyvale that began with a tour and free lunch. The quality of the interviews themselves varied greatly based on the interviewer, and also got repetitive––I found myself answering the same questions during every round.

It was very algorithm-focused, with an emphasis on looking for both small and large optimizations (have your CS fundamentals down) and being cautious.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Yahoo.

    Interview

I applied via referral and a phone screen was scheduled. I answered questions in both phone screens, and even ran the code in the editor. It was working out to be fine. I even optimised on the solutions and discussed the complexities. In one of the solutions, I was asked the complexity of creating a priority queue(binary heap) of size n and I answered O(n) because everyone gets confused in this but I remember this from my algorithms course that it takes linear time as opposed to common misbelief of O(nlogn) time. But when I said so the interviewer asked me twice whether I was sure, I was like yeah I am sure and explained how it is O(n) but he didn't seem to believe me. But anyway, I continued and gave the optimal solution. And then after two phone screens I got a negative response. I do not know if I should be happy or sad after this.

I applied through other source. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Yahoo in October 2018.

    Interview

    DON'T BOTHER TO APPLY HERE.

It's October 2018. I was going to graduate in December 2018. I received an offer from Yahoo as a Research Engineer after their usual 2 interviews+on-site setting. I have another offer at this point, which I need to respond by end of October. The recruiter told me Compensation, Benefits, Travel reimbursement and all aspects of the offer on 30th October and assured me I can let the other offer go as they'll send a letter shortly.

I did the biggest mistake ofy life by letting the other offer go. Yahoo did now send an offer in November. In December, they told me(after loads of pestering) there's the holiday season and we may send it in January but nothing is sure.

It's December, month ofy graduation and I don't have a job suddenly. It's January and they've still not got back to me and choose to ignore my calls and emails.

Pretty shameful for a company like Yahoo. If this is the way it treats potential employers it's good I'm not working there.
