      Buyer Interview

      22 Aug 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Wayfair (Boston, MA) in Jan 2014

      Interview

I applied at Wayfair for a Category Associate position during winter of 2014. I was then contacted by an recruiter. After a brief talk, she invited me to an in person interview at the offices in Boston. The interview was in 3 parts. There were 2 case interviews and personality questions. I thought I had done well! About a few weeks later I received a call saying that I was not a good fit for the position in particular but that I would be a good fit as a buyer and that she would set up an interview for me. Again, I went through another phone interview, then went to their office to interview. By this time it would be around 2 months since I initially applied for the position. After the in person interview, I was told that my last step would be submitting an assignment. Again, I thought I did a great job and felt very proud of my work. About two weeks later, I got called in to meet one of the VPs of the company. I felt honored and excited. I came in dressed professionally and prepared to present my project to her. While I presented to the VP they decided to start eating a salad (a loud and crunchy one at that!). After a few months of interviews, visiting their office 3 times, and meeting with their VP, I was not given a job offer. I personally am relieved. The interview process felt so disorganized and moreover disrespectful. I will continue to pursue my job search where people do not eat salads while I present something I prepared hard for.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wayfair (Boston, MA) in Oct 2018

      Interview

Applied online, got a response from a recruiter the next day. Phone screen was a few days later and received an invite to come in for the final round later that same day. The in-person interview was split into thirds, behavioral, situational, and a case. Like many of the other reviews say there is no real way prepare for the case, they are looking for more of your thinking and ability to take direction rather than the actual number. During my case, I was not allowed to use a calculator so that threw me for a loop because I was told repeatedly beforehand that I was going to be able to. The process itself was nice, all the interviewers were friendly, my recruiter brought me snacks between sessions. I was there for around 3-4 hours. I was told that I would hear back no later than 2 days after the interview. I didn't receive a response from the recruiter until a week later asking to set up a time to call me within the next two days. She never ended up calling and dragged it out until the end of that week. After finally getting her on the phone it turned out to be a rejection call.
