I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (New York, NY) in May 2018
Interview
A few months after applying for the position, I was contacted by a recruiter to schedule a call with a designer on the team. During the call we discussed my experience, process and a recent project. Shortly after the call, I was informed the team wanted me to come onsite for the second round.
The second interview was 5 hours long and included a presentation of recent work, white boarding exercise, visual design interview and 1:1s with the design manager and product lead for the team I'd join.
The next day, the recruiter asked for my availability for a call with Slack's Head of Product Design. The call was friendly and short -- mostly a "get to know you" call. I was able to ask lots of questions about the company and team.
The next day, the recruiter asked to schedule another call. During the call, they extended an offer to join the team.
I spoke with the recruiter on and off throughout the interview process as well. They were very responsive and helpful. And everyone I met or spoke with at the company was incredibly friendly and welcoming each step of the way.

Question 1
Looking back at the design for this project, what would you change visually?
Overall the process was positive. Recruiter provided great prep for the virtual onsite interview and everyone on the team was welcoming and nice to talk to. Ultimately I was not extended an offer and when I asked for feedback I was told I wasn’t allowed any. This was disappointing since I felt a lot of alignment with the product and respected the team’s decision so I would have loved to learn what I could improve on.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2017
Interview
The interview process was very straight forward. I had a phone screen with another product designer, followed by an onsite with a portfolio presentation. We went over background as well as past projects. There was a short white boarding session as well.
