I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2018
Interview
Applied online. Was contacted by a recruiter and had an initial interview where we talked about my past experience etcetera. Later scheduled a technical interview with an engineer. They only schedule technical interviews for Mondays or Fridays. The first interviewer canceled less than a half hour before the interview was scheduled to start. Rescheduled for a week later (as again they'll only do technical interviews on Mondays or Fridays). The technical interview was via a shared editor web app while also talking over the phone. I had my pick pick of any major programming language. The interviewer himself was nice, very personable and helpful. The problem was to construct a data structure for a card game. The format was to implement and test various parts of the game step by step. I think I got to the last section but didn't quite complete it in the time allotted. Got a generic "we have decided to move forward with other candidates" rejection email the next business day
Interview questions [6]
Question 1
design and code a data structure for a card that has three attributes
First a HR call - goes into project details, what you're looking for, etc
Got connected to a Hiring Manager for a project deep dive + TPS round within the hour. TPS question not too difficult - not leetcode.
live coding session, create a md to html translator. It was all live with unique requirements making it more difficult than I expected using regex. The interviewer was not personable and it was a very uncomfortable experience
I made it to the technical screen and didn't proceed further. Recruiter call was the usual experience dive, comp discussion, and why you are looking for a job. The technical screen was a string parsing question.
