I interviewed with SEAKR Engineering back in October 2016. First a phone interview with two senior engineers who seemed friendly enough. Asked generally questions about my experience. Some technical questions about networking and systems programming. After a week they decided to fly me out for an on-site interview. Paid for my flight, car rental, hotel and food. On site interview was about 5 hours, interviewing with a dozen or so engineers in different parts of the company. Interviewed in person again with the two engineers I had previously spoken with on the phone with. More technical questions, but I found difficulty was appropriate and they seemed satisfied with most my answers. Examples such as explain NAT, explain an interrupt service routine, run through first steps you would do when testing a new circuit board, write a test case for specified function, what is black box and white box testing, etc. From what I can tell they currently do not participate in scrum or agile environment, but are slowly starting out with some Kanban style tasks. The interview ended with a paid lunch and a tour around the cubicle farm and the lab. The lab is pretty cool. They developed and test their hardware for space exploration there. From what I could tell jeans and casual dress were acceptable.
I believed the interview went well and I was initially told by the senior engineer they would get back to me in a few days, they took 8 weeks to get back to me and ended up not giving me an offer!
The recruiter I was in touch with provided moderate to poor communication with me over the course of the two months. Just repeating that they are still interviewing candidates… After 6 weeks I finally called them and got in touch with the recruiter. The recruiter didn't even know I had an on site interview!! She thought I only had a phone interview. Two weeks later I received an email saying they are pursuing other candidates.
