I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Ross Stores (Fairview Heights, IL) in Feb 2012
Interview
Applied online at a job board displaying openings at a new Ross location and was called several days later by the store manager. Set up an interview a week later and arrived at the store where the interview took place. There were four tables placed in the back manned by individuals who already work at other Ross locations. The total process took about an hour (including the wait to be seen). I was interviewed by two different people, so I thought I would be given a job offer, but nothing came of the interviews. The interviewers were friendly and informative.

Question 1
Given your educational background, why do you want to work at Ross?
Very lowkey. They asked basic interview questions. They just wanted to know availability for work and if you’re available during their most busy hours. Nothing super professional, but they want to make sure you’re going to actually come into work.
it was very pleasant and they will almost always hire you if you are a tolerable person who can work hard and well with others. It would be strange to not hear back from them within a week due to how much demand they usually have for employees.
When arriving, they do accommodate you to sit in the break room while waiting on an interview, which is great because you’re not standing around the store looking crazy. When you get in the back and we’ll meet with the Store Manager or an assistant manager short it seems rushed like they genuinely didn’t have time set aside for interviews. They were trying to move along candidates.

About my availability. Whether nights and weekends were an issue.
