      Marketing Interview

      28 Dec 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Roseland, NJ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Prudential (Roseland, NJ) in Oct 2011

      Interview

The process is convoluted. First you need to answer some prescreening questions when you apply online. If you pass that, they begin to consider you. If you do not pass it, you pretty much get a rejection email right away. I know because I applied several times. After I did not get the rejection for this particular position, I thought maybe they are considering me. I was right as I received a phone call two weeks later asking if I was still looking and interested. The HR/recruiters that called me were very friendly, very nice, and very organized. They told me who I would be meeting with, told me the time schedule and followed up with an email. I was to meet with 3 people (one hiring manager, and two colleagues) consecutively at an in-person interview, about 45 minutes each. One person (a colleague) was a phone interview since she was not able to make it in the office. Good interview. She had some required interview questions to ask me. Then I went into the office and had the following in-person interviews with the other 2 people. They each had a booklet of questions from HR and were required to ask me a specific number of questions. It was quite tedious but I answered enthusiastically. A lot of the questions were regular interview questions spanning to behavioral questions. After my third interview (with the hiring manager), I thought we clicked but he said he still had another week of interviews to conduct and will be bringing the next 2 people for another round of interviews. After that I never heard from them. I followed up with the recruiter 2 weeks later and there was no response. I figured I did not get the job but it would have been nice to get closure. I followed up another 2 weeks later, since the position was still listed as open and accepting resumes. After that call, someone finally called me back and said I was not chosen. I am quite skeptical of all the positions listed on the Prudential site. Why are there so many openings?? Why is it that after interviewing (I was quite qualified for the position) and after the time period they told me they were finisihing interviewing, that the position was still listed on their site as "open and accepting resumes"? I can't understand thhat they would make their employees waste so much time interviewing so many candidates? Each of my interviews were at least 45 minutes long. The employees there seemed very nice. Good security. Free ice cream day when I went so everyone seemed really happy. But despite that, I am not applying for any other positions at Prudential. I did not feel their postings were honest or authentic and I am not sure if they were fulfilling an interview quota, but that is what it seemed like to me.

Fair and inclusive and questions were aligned with my expectations. I thought the interviewer was prepared and made me feel comfortable. I believe that I was given fair amount of time to answer.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Prudential (Singapore) in May 2023

      Interview

The interview was ok. The hiring manager and team members were friendly. HR on the other hand was not responsive, even when arranging for an interview. Although not a must to reply but HR ignored any follow-up text sent to check on progress.

      Interview

The process was fluid and exciting but I found many of the people I interviewed with to be a bit stuck up and arrogant. They also require far too many interviews in total.
