      Senior Principal Scientist Interview

      23 Jun 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Pfizer (Boston, MA) in Jan 2011

      Interview

Phone interviewed with the hiring manager and then with several associate scientists. Each one lasted about 30 min to 1 hr. Very pleasant experience. On site interview consisted of the entire team (>10 people). It was well planned, but long and grueling but pleasant. Everyone was nice and courteous, and knowledgeable. The work culture from what I gathered, seemed ok. People I talked to all said that the like working there. I did well and I was relaxed during the interview process.

      Senior Principal Scientist Interview

      21 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Pfizer (Cambridge, MA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Interview process seemed to go smoothy. Phone interview went well, and I got an invitation for an on-site interview. Everything went smoothly and I received positive feedback about my seminar. The problem i could not overcome was my age. A couple of months after interviewing I looked up the job title on Pfizer's LinkedIn page and could easily figure out who was offered the job. He was a candidate with only a couple of years of industry experience compared to my two decades of experience, but he was about 20 years younger than me. Ageism is alive and well in biopharma, as I have learned. I have read elsewhere that Pfizer is notorious for age discrimination, and my experience seems to verify that. By necessity I have switched to working in an area hospital that does not discriminate against older candidates.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions were fair and mostly centered around my technical and managerial experience.
