      Jr. Project Manager Interview

      13 Jun 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Oregon Humane Society in Jun 2022

      Interview

What a disappointment this interview process was from beginning to end. The recruiter reached out to me after I applied to ask when I was available for a call, mind you, I had already provided my availability within their job portal to “save time”. I provided him with times I was available again and then didn’t hear back. So I reached out to confirm they received my email and he was like yes, how about tomorrow at X time? So I agreed to that time and confirmed it with him. At that time the following day, about 7 minutes passed and I hadn’t gotten a call from him, no heads up that he was tied up or going to be late. I emailed him to make sure he was going to call me. He told me he was “stuck on another call” which I’m assuming was another candidate interview. That rubbed me the wrong way, as did all the previously mentioned lack of communication because to say you are stuck on a call makes it sound like you don’t care about whom you are speaking with. SO, he asked if I was available at a time that I had already confirmed with him was not one of my times of availability the following day. He ended up calling me 25 minutes late instead because that's when I had time. And then of course, our interview was rushed. I had to get time off and coverage during this time to have this interview. When I asked him normal questions about the role/company he was basically like yeah so these are all questions for the hiring manager...No, you should know the answers to these questions like what would a day in this role be like/who would I be working with, etc. He made it not sound appealing when he did answer questions like yeah you’d just be juggling a lot of things. After this lousy interview experience, I had the audacity to follow up with a thank you email, because I did really want this position. My note to OHS, when hiring recruiters, put a lot of discernment into that process. This person represents and is a reflection of the company. I went from thinking this could be a wonderful, fulfilling role to just feeling like non-profits at the core have less than awesome inter-workings and very disappointed. I also never heard back either way after this interview as promised during the scheduled time, and likely never will. Also, the info on the posting wasn't correct. Like 80% remote he said was actually less than that and though it was listed as JR he was like it's actually not really JR. I also suggest that you put a fair description of what you are actually looking for.
