      Product Development Engineer Interview

      16 Feb 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience

      Interview

On-site interview, they were not very prepared and it was kind of an after thought that they had an interview today. Mostly interested in Company fit more than skill sets. Overall the company seemed unprepared.

      Question 1

Interests and activities I enjoyed doing. One technical question about a sunglasses hinge.

      Product Development Engineer Interview

      6 Feb 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Foothill Ranch, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Oakley (Foothill Ranch, CA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Applied online - phone call with HR - phone call with product team leader - onsite interview. It was a 8+ hours' interview at Oakley's HQ including 1hr talking with HR & senior manager, 2hr engineering test, 1hr team launch, 3hr CAD test, and 1hr team interview. This position really care about your technical skills. At the onsite interview, they didn't ask too much about my previous experiences until I passed all technical tests. The engineering tests were not difficult if you have 4-5 years' engineering experiences: FEA, critical dimension, soft goods, plastic manufacturing processes, etc. The CAD tests were tricky, be prepared :)

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Oakley (Foothill Ranch, CA) in Jul 2016

      Interview

The interview was at Oakley HQ in FootHill Ranch, CA. First I had a phone screen with HR, then technical interview with manager and Director of the product development engineering group. I was called for onsite interview immediately. It's the most casual interview that I have ever attended. The interview schedule was from 11.30-3.30 pm. It included one by one interview, starting with HR and then different manager from different groups. The interview was fairly straightforward with STAR based technique. What I observed or understood from the interview process is they don't look for technical competency of the candidate, but instead they look how the candidate fits with the Oakley values and culture. The HR lady at Oakley is really nice and helpful, as they had to do a lot of arrangement to make me fly from Florida to California. Although the pay was less as compared to my present job and location, I really wanted to work at Oakley, as I really liked the job profile and the people I interviewed with at Oakley. But eventually, they closed the position without hiring anyone due to budget cuts.
