      Human Resources Interview

      5 Apr 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pittsburgh, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at MetLife (Pittsburgh, PA) in Apr 2012

      Interview

I was recruited via three separate phone calls over a three week period, all with voice mails left for me. I returned calls to the first two messages, but no one immediately returned my calls. The third call resulted in me being invited in for an interview on the next day. The interview was setup as a mass interview, with an initial individual meeting with a recruiter. Then there was a presentation to a large group of interviewees by company representatives on the virtues of working for the company. This almost entirely focusing on how much money one can make working for AIL. For a sales oriented company, I was surprised not to hear the term "customer service" used once during the 90 minutes that I was there. Also, I learned during the presentation that for any available position, entering as sales representative would be a requirement. I was only interested in a human resources position. Also, there would be a training fee payable to the company so that I could obtain my insurance agent license. This fee would be payable the next day, if I was invited back next day for a follow up interview and an offer of employment was made. No mention of this fee was made by the recruiter either during my phone conversation or during my one-on-one interview . Nor was it mentioned anywhere on the company's website. At the end of the company presentation, they asked if anyone was not interested in working for AIL, and at that time I will withdrew my application. I was not the only individual who left at that time.

      Interview

Fairly seemless - Recruiter set expectations nicely and hiring manager was prompt in providing feedback and following up with offer.
