      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at McKesson in Oct 2024

      Interview

A couple of weeks after a screening call with the recruiting agency, I was scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager. This was a 3-month contractor role with an opportunity to convert to FTE. During the interview, it was evident that the pay rate for the role was not sufficient based on the required skills as well as the roles and responsibilities relayed by the hiring manager. Unfortunately, the job description did not adequately reflect the expectations of the position. In fact, it was evident in the first five minutes of the conversation that the hiring manager seemed to struggle with being concise without too much extraneous information about what he was looking for. He also spoke at a mile a minute which made the conversation even less enjoyable. As someone who has nearly 20 years of interview experience under his belt, his fast and excessive talking style made me very uncomfortable. It got so bad that he eventually left me with only a couple of minutes to ask questions instead of the 10 minutes he had promised me at the start of the interview when he said that he would "respect that time." Oddly enough, even after spending four minutes trying to answer my only question with an unnecessary amount of information, he was still unable to sufficiently describe any of the deliverables he expected me to complete in the 3-month time frame that they had reserved for the role. This made it obvious that he didn't have a concrete plan for how he would use me. Unfortunately, this seemed more like an order-taker role without any realistic expectations on the overall workload. Also, he mentioned that another ID was leaving their role for ambiguous reasons, which raised more concerns about his management approach. After the call, I reflected on my interview experience and decided to withdraw my application as I had no interest in pursuing the role any further.
