      Purchasing Interview

      1 Mar 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Royal Leamington Spa, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at JLR (Royal Leamington Spa, England) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Group exercise, in-tray exercise and one-to-one interview. The morning was organised very well, staff made us feel comfortable to the point where we all found the group exercise quite enjoyable! I'd recommend managing time well on the in-tray exercise as there's plenty to do. The interview was quite informal, one-to-one style was less intimidating.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at JLR (Coventry, England) in Mar 2015

      Interview

I applied on the website and received an invitation to complete some online tests within 24 hours. The test was split into three parts, numerical, logical & verbal. Each section was timed, you had a information displayed on the left, with four questions on each section. Shortly after completing that I was contacted to attend one of their assessment centres. The day started at 8am and finished at 1pm. Arriving at the assessment centre, it was being organised by an external company but the interviewers were all JLR staff. None of the organisers or interviewers knew whether we, the candidates, were expecting a group exercise. The assessment centre was split into three sections, a behavioural interview, a technical interview and finishing with a group exercise. The questions over the two interviews were largely the same, gauging how well you could display their 'High Performance Behaviours'. The group exercise started with a 15 minute period to read through a 5 page booklet. We were given a second booklet with six different propositions for the scenario. We were told 3 minutes before this section finished, by the external company running the day, that we should have been preparing an argument for one of these scenarios each. Each of us rushed through the material again to pick-out the data, but that was difficult to do within the now restricted time of 3 minutes. The external company didn't mention this to the JLR interviewers when they marched into the room 3 minutes later which left all of us unprepared for the discussion period. We then had 40 minutes to discuss the scenarios and come to a conclusion, in front of the interviewers. Overall I felt the day was very disorganised with a lack of communication between the external company and the interviewers.
