I applied online and got a call the next day to show up at 9 AM the following morning.
Showed up and it was a group interview with one other applicant because, we were they one's that passed the drivers license and E-Verify which seems to be an issue with applicants.
Sat in this long speech about the job description and hear you work 50 hours a week sometimes 60 during the holidays at a salary of 42k a year which comes to $11 an hour. I said, is it salary or hourly? He said, hourly. That does not come to 43k a year. Not even 30K with OT I am thinking to myself. Then he said, you can make more money by bringing back pallets which is $1 each. It was over inflated number was 40 bucks a week and working on Holidays. You got to wear a uniform that you have to pay 1/3 the coast and you must work weekends starting at 6:30AM.
Asked if I have any questions? I asked, what is the most challenging part of your day? He said, what does that have to do with merchandising? What!!!! The H.R. department He would not answer my question. Oooo. Not good. I asked, what can this company do to make me a better employee for the company? I asked, as a merchandiser, how can I grow your competitive position if I am only stocking shelves? He said show up for work.
After the group talked briefly what my job history was and I cut the interview off saying, This is not a fit for me and he asked why? The math does not add up. $11 dollars an hour does not come to 42 thousand, I don't wear uniforms and I am not an early morning person. I shucked his hand and left.
Not a company I want to work for. You're just a number to them and it is a high turn over, extremely demanding job with too much accountability to set up for failure and no life. It was brought up store managers get upset if you are not there when expected when you are have so much to do that they don't treat vendors as employees. I am not going to have someone be unprofessional and disrespect me.
