    Software Engineer Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at FreightHub (New York, NY (US)) in December 2017.

    Interview

I was contacted via LinkedIn and scheduled for an initial interview through Skype with one of the HR personnel. After the interview I was given the 1-hour coding challenge mentioned by the others.

After a couple of days I was invited to a technical interview with one of the engineering leads, which was scheduled a week after the first interview. The questions covered basic JavaScript concepts and some problem solving exercises. I stumbled a bit in the last part but the interviewer was encouraging and guiding me to the solution.

A week later, I had an interview with the CTO/co-founder of the company. He asked me about my background, motivation for applying, and some technical questions, and also shared his experience about how the company started. It was a pleasant conversation and really left a positive impression on me. I received an offer the next day which I accepted.

Overall, I had a good interview experience as the people from the company were on time and ready to answer my questions. Communication was always cordial and they were understanding even when I needed to make some adjustments to the interview schedule.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at FreightHub.

    Interview

Contacted on AngelList by a recruiter. After I confirmed interest (because who doesn't want to live in Germany for a bit?) immediately I was sent a coding test. This was by far the worst coding take home I've seen. Bad english, super ambiguous questions and you only had 1 hr which out the option of asking for clarification. I'd avoid unless you're a local candidate and can get a better experience hopefully.

    Interview Questions

    • Same questions as mentioned in previous posts. They questions are incredibly ambiguous which normally I'd expect the chance to ask clarifying questions. Yet they only give you 1 hour and there is a time zone difference so that option was off the table.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at FreightHub (New York, NY (US)) in July 2019.

    Interview

After application I was asked to fix an appointment. Few days to the interview, I got a rejection without even getting a chance to talk to someone.
Getting rejections is part of the job search but it's better not to schedule an interview you don't plan to honour

    Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FreightHub (Berlin (Germany)) in December 2017.

    Interview

I got contacted by one of their recruiter through LinkedIn and afterwards I book a time with another recruiter of their company.

I can say, this is one of the worse interviews I ever had. At the beginning, things went fine and I had a small talk with one of their recruiter. But unfortunately, they communicate wrongly about the position. I expected the front-end position, but in the challenge it was a backend questions! It was very disappointing. Though, I solve two of the questions and I asked for more time for the third question, but the recruiter replied the same email and told me you are not selected, just after 30 minutes! I asked about more details feedback and I didn't heard back until now. You really cannot expect too much from them as they are still a very young startup.

The first step was nice, we talk about the culture of the company, it's expectations and my own expectations.

The second step was solve a problem and send solutions via google document, the problems were ambiguous and hard to interpret.

The third step was an interview about JS and problem solving (algorithms exercises), the flow of the interview was nice, in addition the questions were very structured so was possible to follow a flow based on the answers.

    No feedback after that.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FreightHub in October 2017.

    Interview

I can only talk about the recruitment process, which was a quick and efficient one. I had a phone interview the day after my application, in-person with two founders the following week and an offer a working day later. I was really impressed by this - it added an extra flavour of fast-paced decision making and appreciation / interest for me as a future employee.

After the interviews there was a a weekly summary of the week followed by after-work with what seemed like most of the office staying for 1.5h. The corporate culture seemed very vibrant, relaxed and positive, as well as I noticed concrete steps and processes to continuously improve the culture.

Interviews topics were relaxed and more like positive conversations. Expect standard personal questions drawing from your previous experiences. A couple of simple case discussions.

I am convinced Freighthub is a great company to work for and based on my experiences so far, I gladly recommend applying.
