Interviewed with the organization after applying online. I was extremely excited as I have heard great things about the organization and the work that they are doing. The phone conversation was conducted by the hiring manager and was extremely awkward. It felt more of an interrogation to figure out things that were wrong with me as a candidate vs actually understanding what I do and proceeding from there. After she was done with her questioning she then proceeded to ask me if I had any questions. She did not initially tell me anything about the organization or the role itself as I would think that most phone conversations go. After the slightly odd interview, I proceeded to reach out the recruiter to ask the contact information of the hiring manager to ask a follow up question and send a thank you only to have the recruiter tell me that she would pass my message along. This is when I knew that I would not be moving forward. I do think it was strange for the hiring manager to tell me to reach out to her directly only to encounter the barrier that I did. Then received a generic email that they would not be moving forward. Would definitely recommend that if you are interviewing candidates, it should be a two way street of getting to know one another.
