I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fitbod in May 2025
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me about this role, she was extremely nice and helpful–honestly the best I've worked with.
Had an initial screening with her, and then was moved onto an interview with the Hiring Manager for the second round.
The hiring manager I could tell was not about me from the beginning based on their demeanor, but in this job market, any interview is practice so I went along with it. Based on what I was told about this position, it ultimately needs to be built from the ground up, and they mentioned the need for someone 'scrappy' several times–which is usually code for 'this role is multiple roles getting paid for one'. I was okay with this though because I have several years experience working in that kind of role. At the end of the interview she said the regular, "We are going to see how the rest of the first round interviews go, and then you'll hear back on our decision and if there's next steps likely within a week."
Well, I got a call from the recruiter not five minutes later that I wasn't proceeding with the next round because they felt my experience was too junior. If that's how they felt, then that's how they felt–I wouldn't be angry about honesty. Why not just be honest and say that to me at the end of the interview, though? Honestly, made me feel better about not moving onto the next round because I prefer working with managers that are transparent and give feedback up front. The company sounded cool though, but that was just my experience!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked about my general experience, and how it would relate to the role.
What is a job project you're most proud of and why?
Asked about a specific program I ran, and what my process was for building that up and maintaining it.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fitbod in Oct 2024
Interview
The interview was a very smooth process with about three stages-- first was a 30-minute phone screening, followed by an hour-and-a-half video call that included three 30-minute interviews with different members of the team, and then references.
I think this has been my most enjoyable interview process yet. It was a very comfortable experience and the team did a great job to alleviate any nerves I had going in. I did accept the offer, but if I didn't get one I would have still really appreciated the learning experience.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fitbod in Aug 2024
Interview
Was recruited by an agency recruiter, had a phone screen, which led to a meeting with the hiring manager - the head of product. That was it, as I was rejected after that. I can't even really remember much of the interview - I prepared to do a portfolio walkthrough but he never asked me to show my work. It was just a series of random questions and he didn't seem prepared, there were a lot of awkward pauses, as I was leaning on him to steer the interview as that is not the role of the interviewee.
Another recruiter from another agency reached out to me on Linkedin after that, saying I was a good fit and should apply for the role, and I had to let her know I was already rejected and that I didn't know why (she asked if I got feedback) and that is never a good feeling.
