      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Fisher Investments in Nov 2020

      Interview

First had a phone screening with an HR recruiter in which we basically just went over my resume and job preferences. I was then selected for an interview with three different teams. These interviews were scheduled back to back, and each was a 45 minute video chat. All the people I met were very nice and they seemed genuinely interested in getting to know you and were candid about the job. I was then asked to fill out an official application on their website (had applied through a university posting) and provide a list of references. I was then contacted by an HR recruiter again to debrief about the interviews, go over the benefits of the position, and confirm my preferences for role and location. Later that day, I received a call informing me I made it to the final round and was then scheduled for a final phone interview with a hiring manager from one of the divisions I had interviewed with earlier. I was asked a few questions, and then the position was described to me in great detail. At the end of the call was offered a job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time you failed to accomplish a goal or task and how you handled it? Tell me about a time you received critical feedback and what you did with it? Tell me about a time you had to work with someone you didn't get along with? Tell me about a time you had to work in a fast-paced environment? Tell me about a time you were responsible for a project? How do you stay organized? Walk me through your resume? (tell me about yourself) Why are you interested in Fisher investments? Why are you interested in working in financial services? What have you done to continue learning outside of the classroom? What role do you play on a team?

      Interview

Applied, within 24 hours got an offer to interview over the phone. Phone interview was positive and was told I’d be recommended for a video interview. 3 days later, got a boilerplate rejection email. The kind that says, “after careful consideration” you know the one. The one that feigns consideration as corporate insulation from the applicants. If you want to still apply for a company that says, verbatim per the email, “We understand you may want additional information about our decision. However, as a company policy, we do not provide feedback”, then you are entitled to your own pain and suffering.

      Interview

Phone Interview, behaviour questions and availability. Asked about previous work experiences. Spoke for about 30 mins. Recruiter was new. The conversation was not flowing. Hence I was hesitant with my answers. But it was not very difficult.
