    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Facebook.

    Interview

Unbeknownst to me, the FB recruiter set me up for an IC interview process. And when it became obvious that I was interviewing for the wrong position, the recruiter doubled down on his mistake. How do you consider a senior engineering leader with over 30+ years of experience for an IC role? It's beyond me.

Lesson learned: confirm that the position you're interviewing for is aligned with your expectations.

    Program Manager Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Facebook (Menlo Park, CA (US)).

    Interview

    1. Recruiter call
    2. Video interview with HM
    3. Onsite that included 3 interviews and a 45 min presentation
    4. Young women with limited career experience reading questions to me from their laptop, and then transcribing my words back into notes - a bot could have conducted a more sophisticated and engaging interview, with better accuracy.
    5. 3 hours of personality and psychology questions - felt like I was joining Scientology. Almost no questions about my actual strategic or tactical work experience. Bizarre.
    6. Position had been open for months, with no hires. I was declined the opportunity because "there is both a lot of ambiguity and heavy process, and they weren't sure how I'd do with this"
    7. Recruiter was nice but flaky.
