      Associate Software Engineering Manager Interview

      23 Apr 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cape Town
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Dimagi (Cape Town) in Apr 2024

      Interview

The interview process was quite long, or rather had several steps spread out from each other. The HR interview was alright, it went through the benefits, salary, etc which was below market but this was a fully remote role so you can probably do it as a second gig. I went through 2 engineering interviews after that. One was alright, or rather - sold the company quite well. The follow-up interview was a bit weird. One of the interviewers had a similar position but seemed incompetent, unprepared and unnecessarily condescending (I later looked him up and turned out he was underqualified for the role, and this was the only place he had worked in a similar position so I guess he may have been intimidated). Most of the questions were scenario-based, the type you find on Google but not necessarily related to the landscape in which the role would have been in. My overall impression is that this is a good place to work as a secondary employment source. The work doesn’t seem to complex and the processes aren’t as defined but they do seem to be quite a close-knit team of individuals who have been mostly there for a while. Overall, I would say this is an okay employer depending on what one’s options are.
