A recruiter reached out to set up an interview a month after I applied. The interview itself was straightforward and pleasant, with current program managers asking about motivations and experiences rather than posing tricky questions. However, the months-long follow-up process was very frustrating. Initially, the interviewing team expressed eagerness to fill the role and promised a decision within 2-3 weeks. After a month of silence, I reached out to the recruiter and an interviewer but received no response. Two weeks later, I finally got a hold of the recruiter who informed me hiring for the role was now suspended, which was confusing given their earlier enthusiasm and confidence in filling the role.
Then, I applied to a similar position that opened a few weeks later, hoping the previous experience was just an internal snafu. The recruiter reached out, apologized for the earlier confusion, and promised a prompt interview. Despite repeated assurances from both the recruiter and a previous interviewer that an interview would be arranged soon, weeks turned into months with no follow-through. My attempts to contact them went unanswered; feeling strung along for nearly four months, I eventually gave up. The constant delays, lack of communication, and false promises point to systemic dysfunction within the organization. While I respect their mission, I’m ultimately relieved this opportunity didn’t materialize.
