I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Delivery Hero
Interview
- The first step with recruiter, usual question about my background and my tech stack some questions about SOLID (even though it was clear that she was not competent on those)
- The second step was live coding. This went horribly bad. Very short intro from each party then the interviewer started sort of like interrogation style back to back random question about general software engineering topics, most of them are not even related to each other. This went on about 30-35 min which left really short time for the coding part. He insisted on using specific language to solve the problem (which is always a red flag) I hesitated as I was rusty on language which eventually cost me 10 min with jumps between problem statement and method lookups. He changed this mind to use whatever language I was comfortable and at the end of 1 hour cut the interview short. Very disappointing experience and a waste of time.
Red Flags
- language-specific hiring process.
- no time allocated for interviewee questions.
- hiring steps or expectations were not communicated by recruiter clearly.
